What does IPT stand for?<\/strong>
IPT stands for International Physicists’ Tournament. It is a physics competition for undergraduate students, bachelors or master level (or equivalent), in which students representing their nation and institution have typically 9 months to solve a set of challenging unsolved physics problems, then present and defend them to other teams. History of MIPT<\/strong>
We are proud to be the inaugural Canadian team to participate in the International Physicists’ Tournament (IPT). Established in 2022, our journey began with our debut representing Canada at the 15th Physicists’ Tournament in Paris 2023, where we achieved a commendable 14th place worldwide. Building on our success, in 2024, we once again proudly represented Canada at the 16th Physicists’ Tournament, securing an impressive 10th place globally. How do I participate as a member of the McGill student community?<\/strong>
McGill students from all programs, faculties, and academic years are welcome to participate by joining the McGill International Physicists’ Tournament Team (MIPT). As the sole Canadian team for the past three years, MIPT has consistently represent Canada on the global stage. In 2023 (Pairs, France), 2024 (Zurich, Switzerland) and 2025 (Ch\u0119ciny, Poland), we proudly carried the Canadian flag at the tournaments. Joining MIPT offers a unique opportunity to compete, collaborate, and showcase your skills while representing McGill and Canada in International Physicists’ Tournaments.
